Yari Montella began his career in 2013 in the Italian Speed Championship Sport Production (Coppa Italia 250), finishing the season sixth with two pole positions, one second place, and two third places. In 2014, he continued in CIV SP 250, dominating the category by winning the championship with 4 victories out of 5 races and 5 pole positions, earning the prestigious Casco d’Oro award.
He progressed to CIV Moto3 in 2015, finishing the season in eleventh place. In 2016, he made his debut in the CEV Moto3 championship with the SIC 58 Squadra Corse team, ending the season 18th with 23 points.
In 2018, Montella had his first experiences in the Moto3 World Championship, participating as a wild card at the San Marino GP and substituting for Niccolò Antonelli in Australia. In 2019, he competed in CEV Moto2, achieving two third-place finishes. The 2020 season was remarkable: Montella became European Moto2 Champion, winning 6 consecutive races and 2 second places out of 11 rounds.
In 2021, he debuted in the Moto2 World Championship with the Speed Up team, but an injury forced him to miss several races; upon his return, his contract with the team was mutually terminated. Montella then moved to the Supersport World Championship as a substitute rider.
In 2022, he raced for Team Puccetti on Kawasaki, achieving his first victory in a world championship. In 2023, he joined the Barni Racing Team on the Ducati Panigale V2, finishing the season with 5 podiums despite a major injury.
The 2024 season confirmed him as a top contender, with 7 wins and 14 podiums in WSSP.
For the 2025 season, Yari made his debut in the premier class of the WorldSBK Championship, continuing with Barni Spark Ducati Racing. In his rookie WorldSBK season, he achieved some promising results.
Montella will continue with the same team in 2026, ready to consolidate his experience in the premier production-based racing category.
